The Last Song

I'm kind of embarrassed I watched this film (I blame my high voiced housemate!).. haha anyway... If you’re looking for something light where you don’t have to move a brain muscle The Last Song is the movie for you. The acting is pretty bad in some places (except for Greg Kinnear, love him!), and I couldn’t help but stare at Miley Cyrus’ strange mouth positions and weird stance but the script is very moving. It’s based on a novel by Nicholas Sparks (A Walk to Remember, The Notebook) and you’re sure to hear a few sniffles towards the end of the film when the heart strings are pulled.
It’s a teenage love story about Ronnie Miller, a rebellious, troubled 17-year-old who is sent to a beach in Georgia to live with her dad. She meets a handsome (VERY handsome!!) young man played by Aussie actor Liam Hemsworth and they are drawn together by their love of nature. They are faced with the challenges and excitement of new love but it goes deeper than that when Ronnie discovers her dad, who she has been rebelling against for the past however many years after a messy divorce, has terminal cancer. Her new love and her dad's condition help her rediscover her love and talent for the piano... hence the name of the movie.
The ending was good but I felt asthough I would have enjoyed the film more if I was 17. It's a great teenage date movie. The script was written for Miley, to build her career and I don’t think it did her any favours.
