Bird Watching Online! - Do YOU Rate It As A Past Time?

February 12th 2007 05:50
Calm down, it's not the booby kind...but if you're into legs and breast - there's still plenty of that!

Birds Online
Hen Friend

No really!
Birds have legs and breasts don't they? Well these chickens do, and that's what I'm talking about, actual bird watching - no binoculars needed....just an online connection.

This is pure relaxation. When I discovered this site I thought the following things and in this order:
Ridiculous
crazy
wild
WHY?
This guy's got too much time on his hands
(and finally)
Who would be into this anyway?

Well the answer to that question is me.
And what I'm raving on about is the most amazing site and my happy place online, it'shencam and it's all about life in the coop.

Nothing much happens because I'm in oz and I'm birdwatching at night, but basically it is a webcam set up in a chicken coop. So I get to see the girls sleeping.

You noticed I've fondly called them the 'girls'...well they are all girls (of course) Milly, Tilly and Penny...and although I haven't made the effort to watch in the wee morning hours...I check on them while they sleep and I think they are a great bunch of girls. I mean they have been keeping me sane and chilled at work, so that's got to be a plus.

It's true - I am relaxed - they have been on in the background for the last working week and a half - now the whole office is into it.

I haven't written to the folks yet because I am still wondering whether or not I'm crazy for liking this, but I figure, there have got to be other equally as relaxing/crazy past times out there...will anyone share?

I look at my ducks every morning they give me a good start to the day - as soon as I walk outside, tea in my hand. sun just tinting the sky I watch them from the other side of the water turn and take notice I am there....next thing I know they are skimming down onto the water and waiting to be fed...

gotta love birds they have the freedom that we humans lack...

Vixter,

Sorry I'm so slow.

That's a beautiful chook, I just love those brown feathers. I think it's a great idea.

I have lorrikeets that come to my window sill. Their range of talk is amazing. So at least I talk to something real every day, when the humans aren't about or I don't feel like them.

I'm with Ash. I just love birds.

More chook posts please.
